Russian President Vladimir Putin met with his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and offered to build a new gas pipeline in Turkey that could supply Russian energy to Europe following the disruption of the Nord Stream routes in the Baltic Sea last month.

“If Turkey is interested as well as our potential buyers from other countries, we could consider the possibility of building another gas pipeline system and creating a gas hub in Turkey for sales to other countries, to third countries,” Putin said in a meeting on the sidelines of a conference in Astana, Kazakhstan. “First of all, of course, European ones.”
